You should be able to get that broken stud out with a small punch and tap it around the correct way . Or if your worried about it , bring the casting to a local machine shop to do an easy out.
Reverse thread on only one mirror? If so, I don't follow why.
In any case, I'm sure the stud can be removed. Not saying I'm the one to do it. I tried removing a small screw on a brake reservoir cover with a tap once before and had no luck. Maybe it was the size that made it so difficult. But when I'm ready to install a second mirror I'll deal with it. Thanks, Tony A!
