Hello,

I'm planning my wheel build, and I have a question. In stock i have the following:

1 x - 1.85 x 19" Morad Valanced Alloy Rim
2 x - 410 X 19 DUNLOP K81 (FRANCE) tires

Would like to purchase a Wm3 19" valanced rim from RGM (Link Below) so my 2 rims will match.

Will all of this set up work? Will my Dunlop tires work with these rims?

Thanks!

Gatsby

They Were purchased last month from Walridge in Ontario, and they are still wrapped. Last year I had to wait for stock, so I’m guessing they get restocked with new batches.

To the best of my knowledge, Dunlop K81s (TT100) haven't been "Made in France" for more than 20 years!

A three-digit date code (with or without a triangle) indicates a tyre manufactured before the year 2000. For instance, the date code on the French K81/TT100 below is 428< which is week 42, 1998. Four digits would be 2000+

K81/TT100 production moved from France to Japan (the early 2000s?) and then to Indonesia and I haven't heard of K81 production returning to France but I'm happy to be proved wrong as it should only be a matter of checking the date codes.

Hi L.A.B,

My new set of tires are in my basement at work. But…I checked a tire On my bike that I purchased from Mike at Walridge last fall, and it indeed says made in France. At the time of purchase, Mike gave me the option of France or I believe Indonesia. If memory serves, he said they still do small batches in France from time to time. It was more $$$ at $220 CAD (Approx 162 USD).

Ok, thanks, I hadn't heard Dunlop is still making batches in France.

Now back on topic, does anyone think the setup in the original post will work alright?
Cheers,

Weren't, Mk3s WM2 rims with 4.10 TT100s?

All standard Commando rims were WM2 and 4.10 TT100s (or Avon GPs) fitted from approximately 1971, however, the Dunlop recommended rim size is now 2.15/WM3.

Ah, so many little things to catch us out! Does that mean, using modern TT100s, I should really be using the 3.60 on a WM2? Or, don't worry about it.

Mine originally came to me with 3.60s. I preferred the lighter steering, but replaced them as they were 10 years old. That's when I switched to what I thought was the correct sizing! :)

Yes, the original specification in the 850 Mk3 Riders Manual (and others) was for 4.10 on WM2 rims although some owners prefer the quicker steering of the 3.60 at the front.
