Looks like it might be a neat thing to do - I have often thought the pegs are too high. If I'm seeing it correctly they just redrilled the Z-plate in order to move the footrest bracket downward, right?

I also thought it was a pretty neat thing to do. From studying the photos, it appears to me that what they did was to heat and bend the foot peg brackets (the longer shafts that the foot pegs bolt to). The shift side is bent more than stock and the brake side is straigthened out. Of course, you'd need to rechrome after doing this. Then it looks like the shifter and brake linkage are adjusted accordingly. Does this look like what happened and does anyone see more?

Yeah, I think you are right - after comparing those pics with my bike, the brackets are bolted at the oem positions. So they must have done the heating/bending/rechroming... Darn!

But I wonder if you could leave the top bracket stud/bolt in place, remove the other stud and bolt and then just rotate the brackets downward and drill two new Zplate holes??

That may intefer with the kick start lever.

The pegs were lowered by heating and bending them down gently, then they got re-chromed. On the 71' it was pretty easy both sides but on the MKIII the brake side was done by making a bracket that lowered the foot peg. Comfort is so improved, your knees no longer feel like they are going to hit your chin!

hi mate. i have snd bars on my bike which are a little smaller than the US bars. I find on higher speeds , sliding my ass back to the middle of the seat where it is widest gives a good ride. there is enough of a forward lean to combat the air flow pressure without making things uncomfortable. I am nearly 62, about 5"8" AND 11 1/2 STONE . when going through towns, i slide my ass forward again for a bit more comfort. My bikes are both roadsters and I like the standard look. I dont like the seat because you end up wtha BSA, especially 2 up. I am looking for a good 2 up style seat that still looks good but more like sitting on a gold wing. yeh right. I wish.
