The '73 850 Interstate has been on the road since the late '80s when I rescued it from a carport in MD where it had been stored for 10+ years under a plastic sheet. Looks like it's time for a little refreshing.
One thing I'd like to sort is the wiring harness. My headlight shell is getting ugly and I have a nice looking on from an earlier model with a ammeter fitted that i'd like to use. The harness is the orginal one, been repaired a few times, the big junction under the tank has been soldered solid, there's a break in the ground somewhere between the battery and the headlight, so a jumper was installed a few years ago, plus a few repairs I can't remember.
Looking at wiring diagrams, models that used an ammeter have no provision for turn signals, later harnesses used the warning light assimilator.
I'd like to remove the assimilator, rewire to use the ammeter.
is there any thing I need to be aware of if I remove the assimilator if I replace the harness with a later one? Or should I use an earlier one and add wires for turn signals?
