Old thread but I found it useful in my prep for an intake seal R&R. I used a homemade compressor like described in another thread that used a flat plate (i.e an old spindle cover plate ) but instead used some 3/8" square steel stock.
Made a center hole to pass the rocker adjuster through and made two tapped holes for 1/4" all thread.
This did the trick to compress the springs, but because the rods are turning against the valve seat, they tended to wonder off the edges if I wasn't carefully about keeping even pressure on each. I will be building Ludwig's tool soon as he has kindly offered to send me the hard to source M7 threaded adjuster piece. Then I can compare the two tools and carry on.
I only did the smoking right intake seal for now...new Kibblewhite (or should it be Kibbleorange?) viton seal seems to have solved the smoking on throttle blips after a good long ride today. Will see how it holds up in next few rides.
