Removing the Blind Hole Cam Bushing

I need some advice about removing the left side cam shaft bushing in the blind hole.

Old Britts describes, maybe sells, a drift for bushing removal, they call it CD-0041, seen here:

Thanks Rick, this page does not seem to describe how to get the non-drive side cam bushing out of it's blind hole though.

I am not sure but I think they need to be machined out, but I could be wrong, also not sure if you can heat up the area so they drop out, you can't use a driff to knock them out in a blind hole, bronze will last a very long time if they are well oiled, I am still running my orginal bushes with well over 140K on them, is there any reason yours need replacing.

I designed and fabricated a tool to remove the drive side bush without using the normal butchery, boring, or tap puller. Highly specialized but works sooo well and slick. You could easily reuse the bush if just replacing the stationary timing disc.
I used it on a cam end breather type commando (20M3S) back in the late 90's. As mentioned, that particular bush rarely needs replacing. I had a second need to change a drive side bush maybe 10 years ago... when working on Hobot's combat cases. So obviously it will work on both 49-71 thick wall bushes and 72-75 thin wall bushes.
Not sure why, but I have never had to ream or do secondary operation to cam bushes. :?:

Place the crankcase half in the oven for 15-20 minutes and remove it (with oven gloves) and drop it a few times on the wood, mine fell out easily, David

Been removing main bearing from NHT cases for over 20 years by oven heating and slapping the cases on wood. I've been successful but never had a cam bush fall out? Though I only heat to 425deg F. using a pretty accurate thermocouple controlled industrial oven and check temp with a IR gun.
How hot do you go???

6,000 miles from new!

I'd be leaving that bush firmly in place... for another 40 years or so...

I have a large size tap with a bolt welded to it's end which I thread into the bush and use as a puller with a piece of tube and a washer. It's an expensive answer - the tap is not cheap.
