Removing forks as an assembly

Is it possible to undo the fork clamps from the steering head and remove the entire fork assembly and wheel from the frame without having to disassemble the entire front suspension system? 1973 750.
 
If, by entirely you mean with both upper and lower yokes still attached to the stanchions then no, as the steering stem is attached to the upper yoke, therefore, the forks cannot be removed as a complete assembly but could be removed with the lower yoke still attached.
 
You can remove the suspension assembly from the front yokes though. I have just done that to renew my staunchins etc. With disc brake, I removed the brake m/cl from the bars and took the whole lot off as one assembly.
 
It is easier to remove the main assembly by releasing the lower stem nut (1- 5/16" ?) and top caps then after the top triple clamp tapers are free drop the lower triple and associated parts out.
That also means not disturbing the headlight mounts and O-rings and easier reassembly.

It was easier to write than do it on an assembled bike.
 
I got the forks and triple clamps off, then tapped out the sealed bearings. They are made in Japan. I’ve had this motorcycle since the early ‘90’s, and there’s no evidence of it being in a wreck. Did they really use Japanese bearings at the factory? Seems like there would be no reason to replace them within the 20 years since it was manufactured.
 
Nothing wrong with Japanese bearings. Look at how long Japanese cars last compared to some other crap around.

Anything could have happened. Someone trying to resolve the "weave" or a low speed wobble from a worn tire. Happens all the time.
