I'm needing to arrange shipping of a '73 750 Commando engine/transmission/frame/swingarm assembly (no wheels, fuel tank, forks, etc.), and am trying to get an estimate of the total weight of that assembly. Would anyone know where I might track that information down (I don't have access to a scale that would let me check actual weight) or know the approximate weight from personal experience?
Thanks,
Rick Krannich

Hi Rick

I have most of an 850 here in bits and I'm planning to build a light bike so I have weighed everything.
For the bare frame, cradle, swing arm, front engine mount, isos, complete engine, trans, carbs, intakes, rear shocks I tally 202 pounds. That is with a belt drive so a standard chain primary will be heavier, however the 850 cases and crank are a bit heavier, so your 750 partial bike with chain primary should be real close to that 202 lbs.
This weight is with a stripped frame, no oil tank, battery tray or battery, wiring , gauges, headlight, side or centre stand, no exhaust on engine and so on.
