I agree that pouring oil into the forks is a bit fiddly but it isn't hard and doesn't take that long. I have never used any "tricks" to do it, just a small measuring cup. If you put the spout touching a spring coil and pour carefully, the oil will follow down the coils without any difficulty. Of course, how long it takes to pour the oil in depends on the viscosity of the oil being used.

I did the Fauth fork mod some years ago and use ATF (per his recommendation) in the forks which works great with that mod. It doesn't take more than a minute or two to pour 150ccs of ATF into a fork. I'll admit that if you are running 20w50 in the forks, that pour will take a lot longer! ;)

What is the Fauth fork mod?

I've drained the old oil from the forks and put in put in 20wt power steering fluid (saw that reccomended as a decent 20wt). Now there's something I've noticed that has not changed. Say I sitting at home and I put on the front brake and dive down hard with my weight, pushing on the bars. When I let up there is a "clunk" sound at the top of the rebound. Since the spring opposes the compression of the fork and the hydraulic resistance limits the rebound, would the fork not re-extend slowly enough to eliminate, or at least, not have such an audible clunk at the top of the rebound? Or is this normal? Just wondering about a rebuild is all.

If that rebound clunk just compressing and then letting rebound while sitting in the driveway is normal (and even if it is not, indicating a problem) will the Lansdowne kit eliminate bottoming and topping out while still giving a smooth ride to someone just going down bumpy city streets?

It's normal. The clunk is the damper valves hitting the damper tube caps because the rebound 'buffers' don't work!

Yes, and they are adjustable for compression and rebound.
