Does any "knowledgable Norton person" please know if..... and how the right hand side ( timing side) crankcase steel breather pipe fitted to a 850 MK II Commando's can be removed from the crankcase for cadmium plating? for restoration work.
Mine is shitty looking and I would like to remove it and include it in the batch of nuts and bolts etc for re-plating.
What methods should be used to remove this steel tube?
Is it pressed in, screwed in or loctited into right hand crankcase/

Thanks for any suggestions mates.

Brewer.

I'm sure it's screwed in, don't take them out that often.

Mine was screwed in. The normal right hand thread.

When I re-fitted it, I put some sealant on the threads. If the person that fitted yours has also done this, it may be a bit tight to remove?

okay! that is exactly what I needed to know.

Thanks Cash. and thank you Reggie.
