refitting stator on t140

Sorry to ask what could be a stupid question but are you sure the sprocket isn't fitted back to front?
I did think that myself. I took everything off today and double checked everything. when a friend arrived who has built a good few of these I put it all back together and it was better and he said it was fine, no idea what was different. pulled it off to fit the key and the 2 wires fell off, (thats life) so now I will sort out some electronic ignition. felt a bit stupid but if you don't know you don't know, you learn more with these experiences. thanks for all your input and help.
 
update, this engine has been fighting me all the way, new stator now fitted and all is fine, I have found a thin spacer left out but every thing seems ok. I fitted a new 20 tooth sprocket and when tightened it locked up, after stripping gearbox a few times plus other investigating, it was the sprocket 40 thou oversize on the first flange into the bearing/seal. it also locks up when tightening the kick start ratchet nut. after a lot of searching I am lost so was told to nip it up and lock the tabs, now waiting for the barrel to arrive.
I am putting this in an A10 frame and had a great day today and sorted the crossover of the rear brake over to the right side, making a new shaft and converting some Bsa and triumph brake parts., I will put some pics up soon, although it is a dry build first. thanks for everyones input.
