What do you think about those "new" carbs? Is it standard at Burlen when buying new carbs at the highest price to receive ones that look like refurbished?

boy thats disappointing, looks like dirt in one of the dents.

Looks like its been hit hard with something to have damage like that, but I wouldn't be happy and would be telling them about it, you pay good money on parts you expect them to be right, if the parts aren't up to scrach you have the rights to complain, get a replacement or your money back and if that don't work then the word will get around very fast.

I wouldn't accept this and would send them the photos and ask for replacements. I have purchased new Amal carbs and they looked nothing like this.

If I had received these, I'd pack them back up immediately, get a Return Authorization Number from Burlen, and send it all back for a full refund, including shipping.
Then start all over again here: http://www.gregmarsh.com/MC/AmalCarbs.aspx
But I'm in the U.S., maybe a different situation if you're in the UK...
I did buy new ones from Burlen, a few years ago, and they were perfect.

Of course it's next step, to send them back. Thanks for the link but I'm in France

At least your not in US or Aus.

Talk to them and send it back. They sent you a load of merde, probably as consigned to them by Amal. Andover should replace or refund, then they can fight it out with their supplier.

Bad news travels fast. Would not be surprised Andover Norton probably contacted you by now to rectify your situation. I'd be PISSED OFF if that happened to me.

Any problems I have had, and they have been few, were sorted by Andover Norton with no quibble . They are a very reputable firm and Phil will get it sorted . No need to worry on that score.

But the carbs do not look good I can't imagine Amal sending out parts like that, must have been damaged in transit!!

I was wondering if they had been packed with the mouths 'face to face' and subsequently damaged in transit.

I am an Amal dealer have sold a lot of premier carbs. I always inspect them before they go out. I only had one problem (That I missed). A float bowl had a small crack. Phil send me a new one right away.

Could be , but I got a pair in Feb this year and they were individually wrapped up tighter than a crabs bum at fifty fathoms. Those thing look like they belong on the "shelf of shame".

I'd call it in to the seller and have them send a new set with a call tag to send those back with.

When I received the parcel, it looked OK from the outside, no hit no hole on it. Opening it, carbs were well wrapped in a not torn strong paper. I think there may have been a mistake, a confusion between rebuilt ones and new ones.

Even so you ordered and paid for new undamaged products not seconds or secondhand items. Both manufacturer and supplier are well known and have good reputations so it should be simple to get them exchanged for parts of the quality you rightfully expected to receive.

It looks like a some time in the factory or at suppliers they have been miss handled (dropped etc) that is not your problem its theirs. At the very least a reduction in the price you have paid for them and refund of the difference is in order.

I've had several good experiences with Burlen and one quite disappointing: I received one of their anodized slide which did not fit in the carb because it was a bit too large. They refused to admit it and of course refused the refund.

Pretty unfair isn't it?

Laurent

If your in the UK, your contract under the sale of goods act is with the retailer and not the manufacturer, just tell Andover, and with the dealings I've had with them, I'm sure they'll look after you and sort Burlen out!!

Last year I received (from Andover Norton) a set Amal carbs with similar small dents. It took me just a couple of minutes to file and sand these dents smooth. The adaptor sleeves fitted just fine. IMHO not worth the trouble to complain about.
