I had a look at my 850 last night and saw the r/rear shock covered in oil. I think its the Hagon shock leaking, but as it just behind the oil tank I will clean it up and check it out. I made enquiries about new IKON shocks last week and a pair will cost me $700.00 in NZ. Now are they worth the expense or am I ok using the ones advertised on Trademe, for about $200.00. I like the idea that the Ikon's can be adjusted hydraulically as well as preload. Will they last longer? Are they better shocks? This bike is my work bike essentially so its going to do some real miles.

Ikons are good shocks and they can be rebuilt, so when the seals leak they're not thrown away. You can even do it yourself, Ikon sell a rebuild kit for them.

$700 seems a lot to me though.

I have IKON's on my three bikes. I don't use anything else. They are really adjustable for cruising or scratching. I've had one set since the mid nineties and had them serviced once - just for peace of mind. They're about to get new softer springs and go onto my Rickman CR750 Honda.
Do I like IKON'S ??????

That price does seem a bit steep though. The 7610's are what I use. The 7614's are more expensive.

Alf Hagon will sell you the dampers only/separately if you want keep them.
HTH :shock:

I use IKON rear shocks and Lansdowne fork kit on my -74 Interstate.
Works very well together and is a huge improvement over the Hagon rear shocks and the original fork with progressive springs.

Per

Hi Johno
I EMAILED Ikon a few days ago to get a price from them. Haven't had a reply yet. What do you pay for them in Wagga Wagga. [ you seem top be closest to the suppliers that I can see.] BTW I flew into WW on the way to Junee for some railway centennial last century.

yes - you need to measure your current (or standard shock length) and call them and describe your riding requirements (racing, aggressive street, casual cruising etc) - and your weight (honest not what u were in high school) they build to suit

It must have been a loooong time since you last obtained/rode with the newer nitro gas filled Hagon shocks. The Shock bodies are available in Soft, Medium, Hard and Extra Hard damping levels;

NITRO STAINLESS STEEL SHOCKS -and… rebuildable :!: :shock: :)

your right - i haven't tried, or seen those - perhaps/i'd would imagine they are better (the old hagon were shit so they'd have to be)

of course they are right in the $$ of gazi (bit more pricey infact) - but i'd love to actually try them
