I've not even peeped inside of mine in all these years, but you guys keep stirring the pot and I'll be looking in there soon enough for certain. No telling what moved in there while it sat all those years...I'm almost afraid to look and find the remains...at least there's no odor coming out of there that I detect. Anyway it has a ding which should be removed. Good enough excuse to pull it. Right?

Well Im all for polished alloy but I draw the line at polishing hairs....

Can we see the rest of your bike? To compare with fast eddies

Sure.

Lots of bling...

I would use the cover. With some Mothers polish it will shine like a chrome rim.

Speaking of polish madass140 recommended purple something as only brand he uses , had to order it from auto supply shop in Cape Breton .... well Don is right best polish ever , and I have used most through the years .... will add proper brand name once into shed for the day .....

California Custom “Original Purple”
Metal Polish ....

Back in 2013 my Commando won “People’s Choice Award” @ Dutch Mason Blues Festival (10000 paid attendance) , which no longer exists ... only time I’ve entered a show ... put the bike in that one as 1 full wknd pass was offered for each bike entered , so for me it was a win win and that never happens ,eh .... used the prize $ to get JRB fork internal upgrade ..

Thanks for posting that, I may give it a try. I too have tried lots of different polishes and I have a system that seems to work. Mother's for oxidized aluminum and stains, then Autosol for a high gloss. Nothing beats the buffing wheels though, which any parts that come off the bike get treated to before reinstalling.

That purple stuff almost sounds too good to be true.

Still use autosol for the badly neglected stuff , but the Purple is amazing ! Still requires elbow grease , results are next level ...

Chrome makes it look stunning. Tornado's norton has chromed timing and primary covers, very impressive... just like Mylars rear wheel cover

Never been a big fan of chrome, as I find it painful to look at in bright sun. The Norton is changing my mind a wee bit.
For the exposed hub, would look good and reduce need to clean if the innards were painted black IMHO.

Purple polish from the states... its the only medium that i could find to keep the tarnishing at bay on my MG 1200 sport so called stainless downpiupes... great polish, crap bike

It is great polish , got to keep shaking it .... settles quickly

Extra weight? Eat less for breakfast and you’d drop more weight. Street riders aren’t so overly concerned.

All adds up.

See post #22 for proof of benefit.

Might not only be the weight loss, I think the vanes within the exposed hub generate a propulsion effect...

What about better cooling of brake drum without the cover in place?
