Well, I have the ARP hardware and after reading this decided to get off my arse and make a tool that works on the rear one as well as the two below the exhaust ports.
Works a treat - thanks blokes (...and blokesses as appropriate)!!

BTW - the spanner cut length is to safely clear the front downtubes and headers

After all that noise with the rear but when I went to check it the front ones were a little looser. :D

Luckily I can easily get at those with a open end wrench.
 
If you don't want to destroy two of you whitworth spanners but do want to torque up the rear most nut & the two under the exhaust ports.. then make up some of the attached plates to clamp your 1/4 & 5/16 combination spanners
Th spanners are simply clamped between a couple of mild steel plates 30 x 4 mm
two 6mm holes at the front of the plate with a single 10mm hole at the rear
With the spanner between the plates the jaws of the open end must sit over the 10mm bolt
Tighten up all the bolts to clamp the spanner, and torque up the 10mm bolt to around 60lb/ft.
it can be used with 2/8 or 1/22 drive sockets & torque wrenches driving onto the 10mm bolt (17mm socket)
Here I'm driving the spanner at 90 degrees to the torque wrench so the torque figure quoted in the shop manual can be used
With the front two nuts, again they can be driven at 90 degrees, but if the torque wrench is run parallel (in line) with the spanner the torque figure needs to be dropped accordingly ( that is why the extension length is written onto the spanners

Just used your fingers? Teeth? How “not fancy” are we talking?
I had no issues doing all the head nuts with what I had at hand. A 3/8 Whit deep socket got on the front top nuts with short extension and torque ratchet. The four bolts at spark plugs took a short 3/8 Whit and extension. Underside nuts, front were ok with a 1/4 Whit combo spanner. Rear was a good fit with 7/16 SAE combo I believe . Not sure what the fuss is about?

I tried that Jan - but with a 6" spanner pulling at 70lb made me worried for my nether regions.
Call me a wimp but I feel safer with a torque wrench.
