Rear Axle failure

Riding in today and the rear wheel fell wobbly. Thought it was a flat but pressure looked okay. Got to work (3-4 miles), put it up on centre stand and the whole wheel was loose. Turned the axle and the damn thing slide right out. Sheared at the threads (poss. over tightened?). Expensive repair in the middle of the summer. Hopefully able to retrieve the sheared end from dummy axle; suggestions welcome on that point.

Not good.
 
A common failure. Contact Madass140 on this Forum for a one piece axle. Bolts right in and reasonably priced.

I believe there is more than one thread on this topic. If I recall correctly, they always shear at the last thread...

Exactly, that is where the flex occurs. Back and forth,... back and forth,... just like the lid on a can, eventually it breaks off.
