#forsale NOS factory fresh zero miles Norton 961 engine assembly..as seen here. This is the UK built ones from the Racing and Development company that built all the early engines for Norton UK during Stuart Garner era. Later, the factory built their own with less than spectacular results with less than optimum components. So this is a good one! $5250.00, now, PKG deal? I'll throw in a Norton America frame & swingarm, a set of factory mufflers, factory spark plug wires, a set of stainless braided cables for a Brembo setup ( dual disc in front, single disc in back & hyd. Clutch cable ( calipers, MC and slave cyl not included) a long with we can discuss some options for wheels, forks and really cool tech materials, and I have a lot of options for Engine controls, brainboxs and ignition, fuel systems etc. ( Way too much to type here) but I'll give you as well a really interesting opportunity to sit down for dinner and beers with the guys who launched Norton America and on my tab. So the frames were built by the original C&J and I spoke to him, today would charge $4000 each if I bought volume. But even more for a one off. PKG deal $7000 + or-.
Location near Portland Oregon. Possible delivery to Washington or California for gas $$$.
I have MSO and title options.

I wonder if he means Norton Motorsports, Dreer's American company that was based in Portland?

Cole (C&J) is not in business any longer so I don’t know why he would quote a new frame cost. And this sounds like someone who bought or is selling stuff on behalf of Kenny.

I’d like the six speed info if in fact it would be viable for the current trans. My understanding was that the six speed was from Baker and because the main shaft is not the same it won’t work in the 961 gearbox. All the other stuff is memorabilia without seeing the specs on mountings etc

The early Donington Norton frames were made by Extreme Motorsport in the UK. Very nicely made too, with very neat welds etc. They charged Norton £500 a frame, complete fabrication including powder coating. SG dropped them, and made them in-house for less....those would be 2012 onwards frames. At the end, when we knew the 961's run was coming to an end (same time the engine rights were sold off) they started having some frames made somewhere in India. Cant remember numbers though.
The core engine units improved over time....gearbox and clutch improvements, along with plated barrels etc.

Voodoo, how old is this offer? It looks like what Doug was offering for sale at the 2014 Norton Rally in Oregon. He had quite an impressive array of early 961 stuff. I talked to him for a while, and he mentioned having all sorts of documentation, including engineering drawings. I was really tempted at the time, but just had too many projects already going. Doug is a really interesting, if sometimes controversial, guy. And a pleasure to talk to. He has accumulated a vast amount of information on the early development of the 961 by Kenny as well as the transition to the Garner enterprise. As an aside, he's also a serious Buell guru.

Pictures of his setup at the Oregon rally.

That's like Doug McCadam traveling around with his stuff.

This could work out as a group buy if some others were interested, but I would really like a true list of what there is actually for sale. Even with the MSO, you would still have some issues registering in CA if you chose to try and build with the components.

Ken
It was just on Facebook Monday.

Thanks, Voodoo. I just checked it out. It is tempting, but I suspect that the total cost to build up a complete bike could easily end up more than the cost of a used 961. And as CG mentioned, it could be a real horror trying to get it registered in California. At the moment, I think I'm just fine with only owning one 961.

looks like Extreme motorsports were selling off the 961 frame jigs on ebay .co.uk last week.
