Thanks Johnm for posting those, some of those guys are still there in those classes, some I race against /with and have made friends with some as you do .
Certainly a mark of the man to be doing those lap times on a 500.
Where is the bike now and will you get it back out there anytime soon?
I am in India at present
Regards Mike

Hi Mark

The bike is sitting in Wellington. It was last ridden by Bill Swallow at Hampton Downs but unfortunately didnt run properly - perhaps carbs - but that is hard to understand because it ran perfectly for three years before then. Chris had ridden it down at the Burt Munro and it went fine. But there was lots of grit and dust on the road there and it was all through the carbs. I wasnt there for either event and it was being looked after by a couple of friends of mine.

I have been away working overseas for three years now and will not be back for a while yet. But I hope to get it back on the track again one day. It needs a good overhaul and the frame keeps cracking.

Tony was a very competive rider in his youth in Australian production racing including beating Aron Slight way back when.

cheers John

Hi Johnm , I commute back and forth to and from India for work, although trips away sometimes conflict with race days.
I see Chris Swallow from time to time at race meets, dont know him or his father Bill well though.
Sounds like your Dominator needs some stable mates , there is room in my garage!!!
I was looking for my old 500 Dommie in a wideline frame that I sold in the '70's to race it in that class, havent tracked it down as yet.
Regards Mike

Dont worry. My old Dommie has a few stable mates :D Hidden away in a unnamed location.

I have been friends with Nick Thomson 40 years since university days and he keeps an eye on it for me. Nick engineers many of the Velos that come to the NZCMRR meetings. Chris Swallow lives in my house when Im away and we stayed with his Dad in Yorkshire last year.

Its an open secret now (at least in NZ) that Bill will probably ride Eldee 2 in the Manx GP this year. Chris is going to ride the Dave Kenar 500 Manx he got second on a couple of years ago and the same 350 Aermaachi as last year. Bill has a 500 ride plus the 250 Velo in the Junior.

My Dommie came from the Uk in the 1990's I think. It has a slim line frame with 1956 crankcases so a bit of a bitsa.

Im based in Eastern Europe now and only come home once a year and its not really feasible to race a bike in NZ on that time table.
