Re-bushing third gear, main shaft

I have searched and read most fo the posts for re-bushing the gear box and gained some terrific insight into how to remove the bushings I intend to replace, but have a standing question that I have not seen a reference to, These questions are in reference to the main shaft third gear:

The bushing has pre-drilled holes, the gear has holes drilled through it as well, The gear also has channels cris-crossed cut into its bore. In my case (current state) the bushing spins in the gear bore, but the pair play well with eachother and fit well on the main shaft with no preceptible play.

1) Is the busing suppose to spin freely in the gear bore?

2) If not what words of wisdom would you pass to me about algning the oil holes in the bush with the holes in the gear while trying to achieve a pressed fit (with the new bushing), and is this best done with a hot gear and a cold bushing? Can I use the main shaft as a drift?

3) If this pair is suppose to have a pressed fit, and if the new bushing offers little resistance to being pressed is Loctite Bearing Mount and acceptable solution??

I think the only one that needs to be pressed in is the kickstart shaft one. I took it to a machine shop to get the old one out. Of course I just did this a couple weeks ago and have already forgot. :mrgreen:

This $227 E-bay special cog box is looking better and better...

But...

By the time the cases come back from CNW cleaned and modified with Mk III kick shaft oil seal and polished, the ball/roller bearings arrive, the studs, seals, gaskets and shifter get added and everything settles as frequent flyer miles.

The E-bay special will be an $850 heirloom :-(
