Re-Building SE#107

Here is the first shot of re-building SE107 after last years incident at the 2015 INOA in NC.
Finally have all the parts required to complete this project.
Engine out and a good detailing to start.
Not working on the bike every single day so please be patient.

Mind if I ask what was the "incident at the 2015 INOA in NC" Richard?

Not saying do anything different but that gorgeous rolling chassis looks like you could do anything with it.
Norton cafe,scrambler,flat tracker.

Too good.

Enamoured by our bikes.

My dad and I rode our 961's from Niagara Falls Canada to stay a week camping at the INOA 2015 Rally in North Carolina. On the Thursday (was leaving Saturday) John Snead, my dad and myself headed out early morning to get a sunrise photo on the Blueridge parkway with the mountains full of fog. After the photo on the way back, my dad didn't make a bend thankfully only doing 45mph and not 75mph. The worst of it was a broken ankle and two broken fingers and a very scratched but not bent bike.

That's what the donor bike will be for..

Glad your dad walked (limped?) away.

Can't replace 'em, you know...

Triton

If I remember correctly, speed limit on the Blue Ridge Pkwy. is 35. Yea. Thank God he wasn't doing 75! Pains me to have you remind us all of his accident. So glad he's up and running again. Oh man, if you guys do a custom bobber with that donor bike, I can't wait to see photos of that!

Still remember that day. But there was a great place to get Champaign next to the hospital. So there was one bright spot LOL

And one more thank you to John for helping us. Can't thank you enough...

So now that anyone new has been caught up. Future posts will be all about the re-build   And we will see what happens with the red bike. Lots of great ideas and visions for it. My dad wants to start a special NORTON SCHOOL and use the bike for students to tear down and then rebuild completely in a week and then go for a ride on it. More thought will go into this over the winter after the SE is back together and my dad catches up on all the things that needed finishing end of last year.

Richard,
Now that's a truly great idea.
Please keep us up to date on this idea.

Will do. Richard Pearce had a small glimpse into what we do and so did John Snead when my dad was invited to Florida to work on Johns bikes. We attacked Richards bike and instantly made it better.. My dad has a few cars to finish before we can go full out on the Nortons to make room. But with the two SE's plus a spare bike (the red SF) and on top of that another spare engine. Plus an old Atlas. and a lot of tools. It should be fun for anyone who wants to spend a week in Niagara Falls, even though you may only get to see the falls for one day.. If anyone is serious in attending, drop me a note and I'll keep you posted separately. Maybe we can do a mini course. We'll figure it out. But you will def. leave knowing how to take care of your bike.... and all the others in your area. Become your own local expert on 961's

Very nice of you to offer! If and when I am in need of major service I think I'd be more inclined to ride to Niagara Falls before making the shorter trip to Long Island.

My dad specially ordered this tank for his commando that apparently is hard to get with the domi orders taking up stock. He picked it up in England when there in the spring time. It was made for his SE which is a cool story. So I Laser engraved his cap and wanted to share. My dad is doing some engine mods which is why it's taking so long for me to post stuff up on this thread.

Here is the cap and tank for SE107

Beautiful Tank Richard , a real work of art. It is so shinny I can see you taking the picture in the reflection .

Richard,

The tank is breathtaking.
I thought these tanks came with a Monza cap.
Does Norton offer a choice of caps?

How does the tank vent?
Beautifully made (tank and cap) from the look of it. Any chance of an underside photo?
