In an AMC forks strip article by Ken DeGroome he states that the axle retaining studs at the bottom of the fork sliders are 5/16" diameter, but that one end is a cycle thread and the other is a BSF thread. Unfortunately, he does not state which end screws into the slider. Two questions: 1) Is this true for Ranger fork sliders, and 2) if so, which thread screws into the slider?

Yes, all the P11 series bikes were built with AMC Teledraulic forks.

The CEI thread is for the nut, the coarser thread screws into the aluminum body of the fork slider.

Generally for studs, the fine thread is for the nut and the coarse thread is for the component (generally alloy) into which the stud is mounted
