Randy Johnson has done it again and set another landspeed record on his Norton 750. The first record was on the Bonniville salt flats in 2012 (SCTA 750cc production pushrod motors on gasoline - 126mph with a best one way of 128mph).
The 2nd was just recently at El Mirage.
Tech guys checkin it out and taking pics.
"Wanted to let you know how the yellow norton did at El Mirage. Stripped it down, race pipes and velocity stacks to run in the 750cc M-PG class. It was an open record with a 120 mph minimum. Ran 119 and change on the rookie run with Bonneville jetting. Then made a recorded run with Dallas jetting at 126.907mph. Had some corrosion issues in the ignition connections/ground. So it didn’t run clean on the top end. Going to remove the stock wiring harness and just run new ignition wiring for the El Mirage meet in May. Also, will convert to a Production Racer style without the fairing. Hoping to run in the 130’s. The race pipes are modified Dominator headers 1-5/8’ with gutted Commando peashooters with the reverse cones opened-up. Hope all is well and you’re off to a good new year!" Randy Johnson
