Here is what I do for a quick change cam.
First I machine the cam hole to 37mm for a NA 4904 bearing. I bore the hole deep enough that the rear surface of the bearing is in the same position as the original thrust surface was. I drill and tap a couple holes for a curved tab that goes into the hole and holds the bearing in place.
Then I grind the journal of the cam down to 20mm and fit an inner race for the bearing. I don't have the number for the inner race handy but it is a common part.
The inner race is wider than the bearing so I machine a bronze spacer to take up the play between the outside edge of the bearing and the backside of the cam sprocket. It is a sliding fit over the inner race. The bronze thrust spacer is not in the picture. Jim
