Hi folks,

I have torn down the forks on my 74 Cmdo. What I found is that there is no fiber washer (Old Britts Part Number NMT814) between the bottom of the damper tube and the inside bottom of the slider. Not sure why they are not there, but that should explain the leak I had on the bottom of one of the forks. The other fork doesn't have one either, but it doesn't leak.

I am assuming the previous owner, who did rebuild the forks, may have forgotten these. I just wanted to ask you all if there was a good reason it may not be there?

Thanks!

No, none that I can think of.

I have lost one before and found it hiding along the wall down inside of the slider. When pulling the guts out, they can and do fall off and hang up inside.

Take a goooooood look in there.

Yes they can mash down so hard flat they seem to become one with the fork seat but so moosed down they don't seal well. Glue to damper tube not the slider for next generation's replacement ease.
