Question about Brexit

I agree with you Frank, the racism card gets played often, by both sides and doesn't get us any closer to where we need to be.

I only know what I see first hand.

In 1958 (primary) when I started elementary school my class was split almost exactly in half between black and white , 13 yrs later my grad class from HS maybe 25 blacks left the other 400+ were mostly white with some other nations represented ... what bothers me is that the economically challenged black kids for most part had to go to work to help support their families .... very hard for a kid from large black family to stay in school and improve their situation ....interesting side note our HS student council Pres. a friend of mine at the time was black , we had attended all the same schools together from day one , he had 7 sisters ..... he is retired phys ed teacher today ....

There are two cards which Australian politicians like to play - racism and law and order. Sometimes they combine the two. I the last Victorian election, the Liberal part claimed it was unsafe for people to go out for dinner at night, because of the high crime rate. Our car industry used to be in Dandenong, until the Liberal Party removed the government subsidy. Now there are very few jobs for the Sudanese kids who live there, so some have been doing home invasions. The result of the election was the Labor government was returned in a land-slide.
Victoria has the best economy in Australia.

Racism is the accusation that keeps the actual discussion of the cause and effects of policy choices from being discussed....

same as in the UK, they (politicians) will just not admit that a huge amount of our problems, ie. raising of pension age, long waiting lists at Hospitals and GP surgeries, waiting time for housing etc etc is directly related to the amount of immigration we have had for the last 14 +years.
They are absolutely terrified of being labelled racist and so duck the real questions and answers all the time.
Not to mention the appalling Police investigations into Muslim sexual abuse of poor white girls in the UK

You have to wonder why three million people came to this country when the country is already the most densely populated country in Europe. Well I don't know but you have to consider who is profiting by it one way or another.

Well the benefits system certainly has a lot more customers ! oh by the way, I would think three million is a very conservative estimate

We have thousands of immigrants entering Australia every month. I think we should feel flattered that they want to be here, when we have such idiot politicians. Life must be pretty bad everywhere else. Our only problem is that most people still want to live in our capital cities, while country towns need more people. In our country towns, there are few jobs and housing is at a premium. We are not smart enough to build public housing for elderly city-dwellers in country towns and provide incentives for the elderly to retire to the country and let or sell their city houses. The services for the elderly in our country towns, are usually excellent.

The major growth industries in the town in which I live are job agencies, child care and aged care facilities - all government-funded and owned by friends of the LNP. Job agencies are funded through the welfare people and won't even consider helping you find a job unless they get their kick-back. We have five of them for a population of 10,000 people. But the bad joke is, our manufacturers have gone off-shore, so there are no jobs.

Re energise the building industry - build more care homes for oaps, more nursery places for childcare etc..

Here is a video of the incident, warning for those who don't want to see a fella getting shot...
(Edit I have removed the link, didn't feel appropriate posting graphic footage)
Appears knife guy got the shit kicked out of him by a bunch of bystanders then shot...
shoulda let them kick him another 10 minutes. then shot him!!!

The problem with our system, is there is probably only one place where money can come from - THE TOP. When people have everything they need, they don't need to employ other people and pay wages. If the government does quantitative easing by printing money to build infrastructure, it devalues the savings of the wealthy people who manage the system through politics. So our future is probably a move towards more disparity. When Roosevelt did the New Deal during the 30s depression, he ran out of infrastructure on which to spend. So we had WW2,. - Public housing is also infrastructure.
It probably depends on how you look at the world - Immigrants are OTHER people. My approach to life is - if they are happy, I am happy.

"if they are happy"? you crack on then. cos when my pension moves a year further away because i'm indirectly financing people who haven't paid a penny, then I get the hump!

Perhaps it is worth paying some people to stay away from work ? - I don't worry about what other people do, I simply hoe my own row. If you worry about injustices, you simply do not have enough to worry about.

If you took all the wealth on our planet and distributed it evenly across the whole global population, we would all probably be comfortable. However there would probably also be an almost immediate doubling of the global population.

'I thought I wanted a career, but all I really wanted was a salary ? - I never worried about how much I was paid, as long as it was enough to get by. - In the end, we all become equally dead.

Question for the Remainers and Leavers -

Did the Brexit referendum's language actually say something like

" . . . and the government shall negotiate terms of exit . . . "
or, did it say

" . . . on such date, the UK shall withdraw . . . "

? ? ? ? ? ?

I ask because it appears that any language requiring a negotiated exit was a poison pill from the beginning.

Or, if it said "shall withdraw" did the Tories just leap to a conclusion and say "Right, now we have to negotiate! and ask the EU just how we are going to leave?"

I ask this question again.

It looks to me that Brexit was backstabbed by the establishment on the day after its passage, if not before!

Similar to what happened to Trump.
