They look too low for my riding style, won't take much lean to scrap the pegs, but some people are different and getting uncomfortable with just 30 minute out means your bike is not set up right for yourself, I know roadsters were a bit uncomfortable on long rides where the interstates were very comfortable with the wider seats and seat position, but there are other factors as well, foot pegs, handle bars, rear shocks set right, even better with upgraded shocks and even tyre choices make a difference as well what fork oil you run in your front end.
I have set up my 850 Wideline Featherbed for my own comfort, solo interstate seat with the hump and euro shaped handle bars and even with solid mount motor my bike is set up for all day riding, even with my foot pegs mount high (so they don't scrape when leaned right over), in fact nothing on my Norton scrapes no matter how far I push it through the corners and tight twisties, all because I set my bike up for me and my own comfort and even buying my new Thruxtons I still had to set them up for my comfort and handling.
I have done many 15hrs in the saddle trips on all my bikes, but my Norton had the most/best comfortable seat of all my bikes, but when my Norton was a roadster I found the stock Commando seat very uncomfortable after all day riding, but of course when traveling you got to stop every few hrs to fuel up, have a stretch, toilet as well food and drink break which is very important on all road trips, but putting highway pegs on a Norton is just not right in my opinion, but we set our bikes up for ourselves, but putting HW pegs on is not fixing the main problem of being comfortable for all day riding.
The only way to enjoy your bike is to have it set up right for you and if you can't get it right then maybe you brought the wrong bike, a 1/2 hr ride for me is a short trip to the shops, but I enjoy my all day rides without suffering any discomfort at all.
