Does anyone have experience with the CWC UK-made chrome wheels?
Quality of build and chrome plating? In view of the high cost of replating original wheels, are these wheels a good option? Or for an original restoration, is it generally felt that one should stick with the OE wheels, and bite the bullet on the cost of replating? I see an outlet for CWC in UK who will build a set of wheels with stainless spokes for under 80.00 pounds each if the original hubs are sent to them, which is a good price.
Shipping cost to USA is not a factor, I have a way to do that at low cost.

Thanks for any input.

I had them do mine 6 years ago with "English Chrome" rims which are drilled before plating. If you go for the Italian cheapies they are drilled thru the chrome. E Chrome are very good quality but they also do a higher show level these days. I went for polished SS spokes, also great quality.
Just make sure they are aware of the correct offsets for Commando, especially rear.

I have also bought an English chrome rim from CWC and it is good quality.

I have bought two sets of CWC English Chrome wheels from Mike Partridge at Walridge Motors in Canada. None of these was for a Commando. I thought the quality was good and I think you will find that they are cheaper than replating. I believe the CWC "English Chrome" rims are made in Italy and drilled and chromed in the UK.

A few of the folks on the AJS/Matchless forum do not think the quailty of CWC English Chrome is up to snuff. They buy "British Style Chrome" rims from Buchanan's in CA but these are considerably more expensive than CWC ($266 versus $150).
