So with my 100/90 x 19 front and 4 x 18 rear I was going to start with 28psi front and 32psi rear Avon say "Due to the modern materials used in the construction of these tyres, we normally recommend 25-28 psi front and 28-34 psi rear". What pressures are you using? I tend to experiment with tyre pressures until I’m happy so if my starting point is a bit off then feel free to point me in the right direction And maybe save me some time.

Dave
28 - 32 is a good starting point Dave. In fact it might be your end point!

When I asked Avon, admittedly not too long after Road Riders first came out, they suggested 29 psi front, 34 psi rear for solo riding. I've pretty well stuck to that. I see they reccomend some variation now?
Depends on the weight of the pilot!
A 9 stone one will need less tyre pressure than a 15 stone one.

From JC:

First check the tire pressure when the tire is cold and set it near the maximum. Then take a ride at your normal speed and weight. Then, measure the tire pressure immediately after stopping. If the pressure has risen less than 10% on the front or 20% on the rear, remove air from the tire. Once you obtain this pressure increase for a given rider, bike, tire, road and road temperature combination, check the tire pressure again while cold and record it for future reference.

The tank and side panels are back from the painters, well I picked them up from Wisbech yesterday and I’m really rather chuffed with the results.

You don’t mess about do you? That looks ace! Bet you can’t wait to try it out eh?

Best bit is that fabulous seat of course ;)

BTW I assume you know that the side panel pinstripes are ‘backwards’ compared to stock?

actually they look pretty good like that as there is an imaginary continuation from the bottom of the tank pinstripe.

Yes that was the plan, just to be a little different

Dave

Very nice, would you mind saying who your painters are? I need to get my Roadster tank and sides repainted sometime.
Paintwork Express, Parsons Dove. He’s good but ‘express’ is a stretch; ‘they’ll be done in two weeks’ really meant closer to two months. As long as you know…

Dave

What ever one thinks about the side panel being different don't matter as its your bike and its looking great, now get out on it and put some road grime on it, its to bloody clean and needs that been out riding look.

Two months is bloody super rapid express for a painter !!

Dave, have you actually tried it with the trouble and strife on the back yet ?

Jus’ thinking you might wanna be 100% sure before you let that interstate kit go…

+1

You can get a new Roadster or Alloy kit easy enough. An Interstate kit, not so much.

Thanks, I will keep them in mind. It is a job I was thinking of for last winter, but didnt get done what with one thing and another....

No I haven’t maybe you’re right but as an Interstate it’s fine for rides that don’t involve dual carriageways or motorways. We’ll see.

Dave

The ones on the right arrived today. Pattern parts but I kept with the OE diameter as I didn't want to upset the handling :)
Left hand one, rescued from a skip in Farnham as a source of spare spokes, alas it's a disc wheel so both hub and rim preclude a straight swap....

Apologies Dave.. Bike certainly looks the part..
