This seal was not leaking when I last road it in October but today on the " maiden voyage" after a bunch of cleaning up, it is leaking a good bit. Am I being delusional in hoping it just needs to soak up some oil and may swell up enough to seal again??? Or am I swimming in that Egyption river one more time...

It's more likely that the crankcase wetsumped and engine oil leaked past the crank seal when it got full enough. Then the chaincase ended up overfull which makes the oil leak out around the felt seal. The felt seal is there mainly to keep dirt out and has very little sealing action. It's not needed when the oil level is correct. Jim

I had the same problem.

I put in an anti wet sumping valve in the oil line, and the PCV one way breather valve. Problem solved.

Thank you guys, I checked the primary & it was way to full. Now on the 3rd "maiden voyage" and no leaks, no more low speed wobble and she pulls like a train.. Now if I could just find the right position for my reverse gear shift lever. I realy need a better set of rearsets. Thanks again. Glenn.
