Hi,

Can anyone tell me if the skuffs that are on the primary chain case can be removed by sanding down a layer, I'm familiar with sanding and polishing stainless steel and aluminium but am unsure what the result will be like on the chain case.

The gashes feel smooth so i'm sure they don't go far into the surface. The gashes were done by the previous owner of the bike.

Thanks,

Neil

Neil,

Have no fear; sand away!

The primary cover is made from an aluminum alloy and is fairly easy to polish. I use wet/dry sandpaper with plenty of water when sanding aluminum parts.

Hi, Looks serious but a couple hours with wet & dry paper using kerosene or soapy water and you should get it back to good. Can I suggest removing the cover an using a small wooden block as sand paper backing.
Ending with a buff wheel. Keen to see the finished results!
