As most of us here are street riders and want predictable and consistent braking from what are essentially high performance antiques, the platinum pad seems to be suitable. Racing compounds that need to be hot to work, not so much. I'm quite happy with them after grinding the chrome off and sleeving the master cylinder.
I doubt that the racing compounds are available anyway.
