I hope that SOMEBODY comes out with a vented cover for this system soon.

Uh oh......THEY'RE BACK!

POWER ARC ELECTRONIC IGNITION....

I thought Matt at CNW was offering them? Can't say it out loud and of course I am assuming you are speaking of the T**s***K ignition.

Oooh interesting, but would it work on a commando? Didn't see a listing of bikes and it appears to be a harley ignition. The CNW vented cover would still work. :)

About half way down on the "products" page is an ignition listed for Norton and Triumph. Interesting! I like the idea of being able to program different advance curves. That would be fun!!

It was $275, it's cheaper than the dare not say it's name ignition system and it is programmable.

I didn't see a page for the norton triumph, but glad it is on the list. This may be a good alternative to try and cheaper. May be worth putting up with a harley forum to see if there are any people using it.

PowerArc is Ms Peel's ignition system, her model has 4 manual or sensor selectable curves, each one programmable in timing of 3 sparks and rev limits. Its an off the shelf bolt on Commando fit- all under points cover but the coil. Programming is done by dragging cursor on display graph then saving. So needs external 'puter to dial in. I am not going to vent points cover d/t water and grit. $500 to buy Peels.

What mostly sold me was claim a hopped up Harley that detonated on a number of other hi end ignitions on hi test pump gas, not only didn't detonate it made most power on the cheapest most explosive low octane pump gas.

Geoff Collins says his offset crank users have had trouble implementing or getting support so does not like them anymore. Hope I've better luck.

Looks like a pretty nice setup. Now there are two "modern" ignition systems entirely contained under the points cover! :)

NOTE: I'm in San Miguel de Allende so now I can get on this site, which I can't from Mexico City, so for 4 days I'll be able to post here! :)

Two modern under cover ignitions- don't quite convey the scope of the term 'modern' in one of these. Heck one even has innate heat radiator. Ms Peel needs 4 curves, most other bikes would be satisfied by only one or two curves. I have the CD2 model and dual fire 80Kv coil pack. Peel will have vac/boost adjustable switch plus manual switches to select curve for tame as a kitten on icey mud or Tirger with claws out on best traction surfaces. Here 10 min. of over view.

We just finished setting up the Power Arc ignition for Norton Commandos. See pricing, information and installation instructions on our website - http://www.oldbritts.com.

Hi Fred,

Any worries about heat build-up in the timing cover and how that might affect the lifespan of the electronics? That's the only major concern I have about these "all-in-one" ignition modules. Otherwise they look incredibly slick. The topic of how heat might affect the electronics has surfaced a few times here in regard to Tri-Spark but I can't remember if any sort of consensus was reached. It seems like several years of real world testing is required before we will know how they stand up. Any ideas regarding longevity of the one you are marketing? Are these mounted on Harleys in the same way (ie. high-heat environments). I know absolutely nothing about Harleys!!

Thanks for posting Fred. Reading through the instructions it sounds easy to set up and about the same cost as the T**s***K with everything included. It's also nice to see you dyno'd and are offering a couple tested maps and show future support. then there's my favorite part....Made in the USA.

As far as heat affecting this unit, this ignition has been used on Harleys for around 20 years and they are exposed to more heat than our Commandos would. The longevity is superior to what I have experienced with the Boyer. When running the Boyer with negative ground on my engine dyno, I would blow a black box quite frequently. My Power Arc has more than 20 runs without a hiccup.

That looks pretty nifty. Is it that much better than the Boyer? I may feel the need for an upgrade at some point.. :D

Dad's used Boyers for years. I think his Nortumph has a Boyer wired in with a Mity Max.

The only UNcool thing about these is they come pre-programmed for Triumphs, to get a programmable one, the cost goes up from $285 to $472 and then it is another $122.50 for the cable + $5 for the software... It does look sweet though.

Pre programmed for street use at old britt's is 343.56 including future programming for free is no where near the price you speak of jean. For most pre programmed would be ok for street use. I imagine if you want the whole kit and race it is as you say, but how often would most people need to reprogram it? If Fred says he has dyno'd it and is offering good maps I'd be ok with that.
