Its time to get my frame off for powder coating. If you would like to recommend a powder coater in the San Francisco Bay area, I would appreciate it. Please also tell me what you liked and disliked.

Of course I am open to any info on the subject of powder coating you would like to share. I have read enough to know there are many different approaches to this process. Please educate me on the preferred types of powder, metal prep, primers and of course things to stay away from.

FYI, I am aware of the Old Brits guide and will use it.

Thanks, Gary

I am using Accurate Powder Coating/NRI (Warren is the owner and a great guy), 436 South Airport Blvd.
South San Francisco, CA 94080, for all my frame ....but the Commando which a friend spray painted as I was too lazy to go through your route!!! Warren is normally using a 60% flat 'cause I hate shiny black..too plastic to my taste. I brought there alreadt 4 frames there and had no probs.

Just a though before you head off for powder coating. If you have the ’71 style side stand that attaches with a circlip to a stalk on the frame (They weren’t deemed to be very safe.) you might want to do something about it now before doing your frame and building your bike. Don’t ask me how I know……………anyway must go I’m trying to work out how to retro fit a side stand fix to an already rebuilt ’71 roadster.

Now I understand why your dissembling her again. Not good, hope it works out. Post some pictures of the repair.

I was not planning on using the side stand, and as far as I know it was taken off when new. I have seen the aftermarket repair and I guess nows the time to do it, just in case I decide a side stand is more to my liking. I also see they have gussets for the rear loop but it doesn't appear to be a popular repair. I been meaning to ask about that one. Another thing to look into!

Hope your repair goes smooth!
