Back in the day I fitted them to everything including Commandos with both normal
down pipes (with and without the cross tube) and high level S type.

My parents neighbours were not very keen on me and my motorcycles !
 
Steve, the bike had an original 1960s Ian Kennedy top yoke, which I thought was a nice touch. I had been told not to use this by Degens but, of course, I knew better !

It remains unclear if the top yoke breaking was cause or effect of the crash, but the break showed poor design as it was thin where it broke, and really poor alloy with Swiss cheese holes in it.

The only thing connecting the front end to the bike was the (stretched wide open) throttle cable. Poor thing was revving it’s tits off until I covered the bell mouths to stop it !

Masked by Adrenalin at the time, I had two sprained ankles and a broken wrist.

When I rode with the Harley crowd back in the late '70s early '80s, I was often asked "where's your Harley "T" shirt Dan?

While I did have e few Harley "T" shirts, I had more that where not the accepted norm for a Hog rider.

I could not understand this form of conformity as I always looked at riding motorcycles in those days as nonconformist.
