BBBrrrrrrr, that looks cold.

I had a crack in a car distributor cap once. The car ran terribly and the economy was though the floor. What a devil to find, but once the cap was replaced the transformation was amazing.

Out of interest what do you get up to at the dragon rally? It doesn't seem the best time of year to be standing around talking bikes and supping ale.

Cheers,

cliffa

Hi Cliff, the Dragon rally is just great fun ,band playing at night, no trailer queens. Bikers came from all over the world in all types of two and three wheeled vehicles it was the friendliest rally I've ever attended. All age groups, male , female meeting up with folk you know unexpectedly and everybody says see you next year. I think about 1500 to 2000 people were there camping on sodden wet ground and not one complaint, scenery was brilliant just next to mt Snowdon. Admittedly the wind got up and the porta loos and a few bikes got blown over and any tent that wasn't up properly got destroyed even with people inside.
I fancy doing the elephant rally next year but not as a single rider, I think that would be too dodgy.
Tiko from Staffordshire Triumph on his Tiger, Nic Davies Tr3oc on her C90 heading home and two German boys at the checkpoint at Conwy, 30mph on their 3 wheelers 10 days to do the trip.

Hi Jg, well looks like I was wrong on all counts, except it still looks bloody cold. Respect is due though!

I tell you what though, you don’t seen many Honda C90, 70’s or 50’s anymore. In fact I think there’s more chance of seeing a Commando on the road. Bearing in mind they are the worlds biggest selling bike what happened to them all?

How’d you get on with the Boyer ?

Cheers,

cliffa.

One neat thing about Boyah's is they allow checking intermitent conduction area by leaving key power on with a plug out on head, then bump, tug, jerk, twist/vibe areas till plug snaps to narrow down attention focus. A simple bad common +earth connection can do this but if not already replaced the flimsy Boyah wires they are garanteed to fail at some point so do it soon as can regardless of what else found/replaced. I've had coils fail a number of times in a number of ways to say they usually completely fail so intermittent slow failure is a rare occurrence.

One of my mentors Greg with Decent Cycles has wire kits for a few decades now. Follow instructions to a tee and don't double nut on back of plate as fouls rotor magnets misfiring, damhik.

I can't fathom such a dull home life that riding and camping in freezing snow/ice/wind conditions is considered fun but glad to see some are up to the endurance test. Electro igns may kick back fail to start with cold battery volts, so contact breakers are better if routinely breaking ice off seat/bar before starting and only time chokes actually a good feature ticklers ain't up to. Electronic sparkers themselves pretty tolerant to cold thankgoodness.

Cliff , C90 are most probably scrapped or landfill. maybe there are thousands of potential barn finds awaiting discovery?

Hi Steve , A dull home life just about sums it up but kids seem to be healthy now and with life expectancy pretty low in my neck of the woods. At my age every day above ground is a good one and should be put to good use trying stuff I had no time to do when younger.

I've only covered about 15 mile with the coil replacement and it seems to run ok but when cold it's difficult to start and as you say the ticklers don't seem up to it. it's backfired through the carbs a good few times and I am thinking about pulling the carbs and changing the o ring seals on the carbs in case it's drawing air , as a precaution.

Cheers Jg

Gosh darn Jg I've no counterpoints atall to your realistic logic so good on you visiting a bit of heaven while still alive. I had senior patients I'd rescued, stopping in front of clinic, nodding, me relfexly asking howyadong, to get back "still seeing the green side of grass", and then stroke to death soon after. Communing with folks like you is food for my soul-less being.

Still waiting for this tread's unexpected 3rd shoe to drop on current thread solution... Btw I sold Peels crashed and abused time plate, 2000 vintage black analog box boyah with Decent Cycles kit to NYC Micheal Tagilarri in 2006 and he's still using it after blow out crashes and recoveries. Its powered Ms Peel to many state wide fame to seek out by traveling gun slinghers to see who's the fastest draw. I did not know that kind of thrill seeking existed till encountering hot shots - usually from behind to stimulate pace pecking order, so Boyer is good cheap solution, just not the ultimate.

Btw my error not following instructions lead to merging of minds by some the most famous Nortoneers at Ohio '04 rally, to point many acres of weary campers horns and nasty YELLINGs stop it after 10 pm, so pulled out jar of clear Ozark triple thumped moonshine, (190 nerve numb proof) each took 4 big glups, to numb us to public opinion to keep at LOUD open header WOT back fires with cherry red headers to mufflers, till Rod Rayborn saw slight sparks from behind the time plate that turned out to be my fault not following instructions, duh.
