There is a 1962 Atlas on Ebay being bid up to a fairly high price, touted as being a quality restoration, but there are many, many things poorly done or wrong with the bike:

Wrong fuel tank, from a later year Atlas, badges held on with allen head screws instead of regular chromed screws. Fuel cap should be offset to left of tank, not to the right.

Rear license/tailight bracket off a later AMC Atlas.

Wrong, later timing cover on engine, engine has many original fastners missing and replaced with common hardware.

Wrong, later headlight, speedometer and speedometer bracket. Bike should have 150mph chronometric speedo inside special headlight shell with plastic Lucas lion badge Nortons of this era used.

Nylock nuts used on engine plates instead of original whitworth, chrome-plated hardware.

Fork badges originally held on with plain copper rivets now held on with cheap pop-rivets.

Anyway, this bike is missing a lot of original parts and was certainly not restored as much as it was re-manufactured. It may provide someone with some quality riding, but it is certainly not in collectors condition, has not been restored to original condition, and hopefully whoever buys it will not end up buying it as being an original bike and paying a top dollar for it.

A bike with allegedly so few miles that has been changed so much makes me wonder if it was once badly wrecked, badly rusted or maybe heavily customized in the past........
