How to keep oil from passing through the bearing and into the points housing. The AN drawing shows an oil seal. What I have leaves no room for an oil seal...no recess, nothing. Any ideas?
Without knowing the bearing spec, it isn't available in a 2RS option?I'll run without it then. I'm installing a boyer.
That's a good ideaWithout knowing the bearing spec, it isn't available in a 2RS option?
Sealed both sides (and pre-lubricated a-la wheel bearings).
...or 1RS - lubricated one side.
Cheers
They are caged needle roller bearings, two on the later models, a bronze bush and single needle bearing on the early ones. That's a good idea
Best to leave seals on both sides imo
Those sealed for life bearings are designed to last many thousands of miles
I'll take it. I have a table top mill so it's possible. Do you have the numbers for the needle bearing and seal?Seattle##gs, I can serve you with a CAD drawing how to machine the early housing for the original needle roiller bearing and seal. This drawing is based on the genuine AMC/NV drawing issued in 1968 which I am not allowed to hand out. A couple of these housings are on my shelf, and I plan to have them modified according to the drawing.
