Tough to see the PODtronics in this picture - it's under the horn. Because of that, the silly factory battery hold downs could not be used so I made the one in the picture. The battery sits on rubber, is backed by rubber, and the hold down is lined with rubber. The battery is firmly shock mounted. I do this on every Norton I rebuild. This is the only one so far that I've put the horn in the battery compartment.
Shindengen unit, small Shorai secured with Velcro stuck to the base and back plus an elasticated velcro strap.
The Shindengen unit is bigger than most, you think you have loads of spare space UNTIL you start looking closely at mounting options...!
Twin outlet coil also shown.
Two main fuses, one for ign circuit and one for everything else. Also a fuse twixt Shorai unit and battery (as recommended by gtiller).
This got changed around a bit when I went electric leg, I needed a bigger Shorai and had to move the coil back to its normal position under the front of the tank, which is a shame as that’s where I was gonna fit an oil cooler.
This is how we had it when we had the K&N spin on air filters.
Then, when we fitted a pre-MK3 ham can style filter (this is the RGM slimmed down version) we went up this route instead.
The plugs are waterproof and behind the side cover and seat, so we put it this way up so you don't have to stand on your head to get the plugs on and off.
I mounted my Paul Goff A Reg One voltage regulator on the underside of the spark coil bracket. I fabricated a steel adapter plate with 3 threaded standoffs that use the original bolt holes in the spark coil bracket. I also welded the two regulator mounting screws to the plate for ease of maintenance.
I have over 10,000 miles with this voltage regulator and it is still working fine.
Some nice looking stuff here guys.
I've seen some of these on various threads. Nice to have them on one thread.
Any kind of RR, battery, coil rework is welcome.
Keep them coming guys....
Just posted this on my Commando Rebuild Thread when I discovered this one so here it is again .
Bracket bent up out of a piece of stainless and through bolted using center fender bolt in battery area - note that ears of bracket are unequal to shift Podtronics unit away from oil tank . Left side looks like it will get more air flow.
