I’m more used to looking at plugs out of my older, oil burning ‘classics’.

What say you fine fellows of these out of the 961?

These were removed after a nice 50 mile ride, some brisk acceleration, 85mph cruise and a couple of miles through slow traffic to home.

They are NGK Iridium, not the stock plugs.

First two are from the LHS, second two are from the RHS...

I my opinion good looking, but I am no mechanic.
Which plugs do you use:
CR7EIX or
CR9EIX?

Mine look whiter than yours Tony. If I’d taken them out of my 850 Commando or Bonnie I’d be worried it was too lean.

I guess it’s ok in this ‘modern’ engine!

Looking perfect!

What you really don’t want to see are tiny aluminum specs from detonation from the piston.

Hello FE , Norton said the Euro 4 machines are run leaner than Euro 3 I think ? You have had your aftermarket exhaust map installed also correct ?

I changed the plugs for new ones, just thinking it’s the start of the season, so I’ll treat it!

And waddya know... it’s starting better, much more instantaneous rather than having to crank over a bit.

So maybe the plugs were starting to degrade?

Only been in 1000 miles (inc track use) and these things are supposed to last yonks.

I’m thinking to maybe try one grade cooler, a #10

What do you fine fellows think?

I say I had 7,000 miles on my original plugs when I changed them. They looked and still worked fine, but wanted to give the iridiums a try. Wondering if you have a defective plug.
