Made this yesterday as a welding project. The pictures deliberately don't show my crappy welds. I don't know if I ever will get good at it, but it looks solid. The strenghtening webs are probably too thin at 1/16" while the tubes are 1/8" so next time I will use similar sized materials to make it easier on myself. I had fewer problems welding the tubes together than adding the webs, live and learn.

This is going to help memake my exhausts without interference

nICE AND TRICK, BUT DO YOU GET ENOUGH LEVERAGE WITH THAT SHORT ARM?

oops, sorry for the caps, to lazy to re-type

Yes, works well, I can even push the bike around since it rides on the front wheel and on the casters.

I just bought thier alloy bike lift. It is amazing how cheap it is and half decent quality.

I have that Harbor Freight model, fits my Kaw just fine but won't work on the Norton.

$40 bucks is a good price but I don't like that orange color.

Just kidding, we need a Harbor Freight in Canada.

best pit stand for me is a chock, the baxley sport chock. but it aint 40bux.

Too wide? Why?

The muflers and rear brake yoke are in the way, You would have to fit it to the Norton which I intend to do, custom pick up points at the top of the stand like paddles or longer sheet metal with a V notch at the top. Some how lift the bike by the swing arm or axle bolt.

I'm pretty sure that stand is meant to be used with these:

Running Dunstall 2-1-2 with Dunstall centerstand. Stand doesn't lift the rear of machine enough for maintenance. I could use a stand of this sort if it would work.

You are correct swooshdave as I have them on my Kawasaki, I also have seen paddle like attachments for this stand somewhere. I thought I would make something that would work for the Norton fitted to this stand  I would also get harder wheels for this stand as they get a flat spot after sitting with a bike on them, the round out again after you take the bike off.

Both wheel still touch the ground while on the center stand and if I lift it with a 2X6 under the center stand the rear of the bike is heavier than the front. :(

For those of us without Jean's welding interest and ability, there is Pit Bull. I bought a modified stand from them this past summer and posted the results here:

The stand fits my Mk3 perfectly and raises the rear wheel an inch or so off the ground. No interference with the silencers; the stand lifts the swingarm. It's a bit pricey, but you get what you pay for in ruggedness and ease of use.

That's where I've seen that before, thanx for the reminder been buisy with other things. I'll try to make those kind of extentions for the harbor freight stand.

Nortasaki,

Keep us informed of your work on the extensions. It sounds like a tough task, as they will have to be several inches long to clear the silencers and must be rigidly attached (no rotation) to the stand frame to remain stable.

You guys get such kewl stuff here... makes me feel like some kinda barefoot native in a remote backwater. Oh wait, though not entirely accurate, there is some truth to that, hehe.

OK, I don't go back to work 'till 1-4-10 where I can get scraps and bit to work with.
