Not around here, anyway. The pistons/pins/clips are sold as an assembly, separately from the rings, unless the vendor you choose bundles them. With Hasting's ring sets you still have a lot of options, like one piece, two piece and 3 piece oil control rings, and cast iron or chrome top ring. I like the 3 piece oil control rings and the chrome top ring, but I'm a street rider and hope I'm not starting an oil thread type debate...

And, BTW, your vendor may or may not be in a position to offer you the various choices; it's why I have relationships with several vendors.

The most important aspect of installing new rings is their end gap; the last 5 or 6 sets I've installed all had to have the gap widened to meet spec. All part of my MEBA (measure everything before assembly) mentality.

OK that answers on question, and similarly 3 piece. Oil control are the way I'd lie to be going... that why I was supprised to. Be supplied one piece rings.... these went out in the ark .
SO my next question can I fit Hastings rings onto JCC pistons & do they manufacture oversize rings

Thanks

Thanks L.A.B yes the rings are in hepolite boxes & With a seal on the flap.
They are one piece-oil control rings
Pistons & rings (boxed +20 kit) Hepolite/JCC supplied from RGM

I normally use Hastings or Total Seal [not gappless] 3 piece rings with the JCC pistons I fit.
I would not use the one piece oil ring. Jim

Does it say "Made/printed in USA" or similar on the ring packaging?

Pictures of Norton Hepolite JCC kits (including RGM's) show three-piece oil control rings.

Thanks L.A.B as soon as I found them being one piece, I also checked RGM site and noted they clearly show three piece.... as I'm currently in Juan le pins on holiday in our van (always wanted to to if my expectations following the song were true) will refer the matter back to RGM on my return & checks country or origin on the box...

Thanks Jim. I haven't fitted one piece rings for years and it's only in big old oilers that there's still fitted regularly & OE

please dont forget to swap the circlips for A/N ones . in my experience the J C C ones are utter litter . keep your engines safe peoples

Hepolite pistons are currently supplied with UK made ring sets the original Heplex ring plant still manufacture to special order ( batch production only ) if your pockets are deep enough you can order a production run , oil rings are one piece with expander spring and the ring box will have a union jack sticker made in england on it older sets with hastings rings have the made in USA ring wallet

Thanks for this....
Personally I don't like single piece oil rings, with or without expander spring
I haven't had a response to my question as to whether Hastings rings can be fitted onto JCC pistons and do they manufacture oversize rings..?

JCC piston ring grooves are the same dimension as they were on the old [73 thru 75] Hepolites.
Hastings rings fit with no problem.
STD, .020, .040 and .060 OS are commonly available

JCC Hepolite Norton pistons in standard and the usual oversizes were (or at least were until recently) supplied with Hastings rings. Oversize Hepolite JCC piston kits therefore would have oversize Hastings rings.

Ask RGM if they will swap the (+020") ones you have for a Hastings set?
