I just removed the head from my '69 "S" to be sent out for exhaust thread repairs. I was cleaning the carbon from the pistons and found these part numbers that don't match up with anything I could find.

06-3362 left and 06-3363 right.

I tried searching all years and didn't come up with anything. I'm guessing they are oversize?

Not sure about that pt#. Make sure they are not slotted pistons that were around in that era. Pistons should have the size stamped on top ie: STD; .010; .020; .030 etc.

Those part numbers seem later than the era of the slotted pistons anyway. Could be casting numbers?

Me either but I checked the numbers with a magnifying glass. I thought there would be a marking for std or oversize but all I can find is left and right. I searched British CYcle Supplys price sheet and no number exists in their database.

The "piston" numbers in the parts books usually refer to: "piston complete" (piston, pin, rings & circlips).

As pistons were normally supplied as an assembly so the individual piston would probably have its own individual part number which isn't listed because the bare piston wasn't available separately.

Looks like they are .030" over per British Only price sheet.

Thanks Russ. It would be hard to imagine the bike still being std bore. I still see crosshatch marks on the cylinder walls so I guess I'm in good shape there.

I assume you'll install new rings, measure PRECISELY before ordering, to be sure you get rings that will fit correctly.

I'm not going that far, I only pulled the head off to get the exhaust threads repaired.
