piston height in barrel, valve clearance

Measuring things on an 850 build, AE pistons lie about .003" below top of barrel. Could anyone quote the stock piston to barrel top distance?

Piston to valve clearance is about .055" without base gasket. What is the least I can run the valve to piston clearance with stock cam?

.020 is fine. You could knock .030 off the head and be good to go. Jim

Might mess with pushrod geometry but JSM has .020" copper head gaskets.

You can also get copper head gaskets from Cometic in the following thickness - .005", .010", .016", .020", .027", .032", .043", .050", .063", .080", .094"
