I am looking to re-paint my 69 "S" an original 1969 metalflake color. I figured this would be a good opportunity for anyone with a Metalflake paint job to show it off!

Here is one of two MK 111s I restored this year. Lost the riding season here the Toronto, so will have to wait until Spring to get some good outside pics that pick up the pearl chrome orange finish.

That fastback tail section, where does that bolt onto, the shock mount bolts, under the seat knobs?

How about Fireflake Red? I would love to see a good close-up, I am really considering that color for mine.

Exactly. It also has a threaded hole in the rear that accommodates a bolt that passes through a bracket that also fixes the fastback rear mudguard.

I have seen Brents job he did for Chris actually on the bike, stunning job. UK sprayers take note - Quality and price saving and that includes sending the parts to and from the US.

Nice one Brent.

The finished product is much more than 'out of the gun' spraying of paint. I started with 1500 grit followed by 2000 grit w/d sanding. Two levels of machine polishing paste, one cutting and one buffing followed brfore waxing. I am sure this typical of all of those shown above.

To Madnorton - Thank you very much for the kind words
And to ctsbc - Right you are. The process of wetsanding and buffing is a critical part of the finished product that is often overlooked or completely destroyed by someone not familiar with a buffer. The Fireflake colors are a different animal as they are so coarse. It does take more finesse to attempt to get it to look decent. I have further detail shots of these parts if anybody is interested. Keep in mind, like all my jobs, what you see is paint on paint with decals used only as stencils.
And as always, feel free to contact me if you are in need of paint work.

Peter,

Wow, what a fantastic color!

Damn...After seeing that I'm pretty tempted to have the tank redone to something similar.
