If anyone one has a clear picture of the location and position of the horn and oil filter for a MK111 850 commando my restoratio projectvwould be most thankfull.

I'm sorry I do not have a pic of an accurately restored Commando to show you but the parts manual is wrong in it's positioning of the horn. If you are really fussy about the placement you are going to need to be careful, and do a lot of research. Best of luck. Someone on this forum must have a picture, which is historically accurate. Grandpaul? L.A.B.?

Here's an idea. That guy that who bought the last Commando for 30k might be willing to part with it. Sure would save you a lot of time and trouble.

If its the same as a Combat I can shoot a shot of mine. It bolts to a double thick sheet metal tab on bottom of battery tray and should aim down ward to keep water and road grime collecting and tweaked to allow oil hoses to pass, mostly w/o undue fouling. IIRC the loud side ends up towards the RH side.

LAB is busy taking his bike apart so he can take a picture. Give him a couple more minutes.

That's interesting, because I just assumed he had a picture of every part and possable situation on a Commando. I guarantee you he has them in his head.

No-one has ever successfully photographed the horn in situ on a Commando. You'd need an 18" long lens with three universal joints in and a flash lowered from above. The only other possibility would be to send in a hamster with a micro camera strapped to it.

It's not a MKIII but I bet it's just about the same.

I seem to remember I had 2 of those triangular plates, but I only found one when I put it back together. I know the fender will be all together different. Don't know about the oil filter, mine didn't have one.

Nice, how about the horn?

Is it the same as the other models?

Yes, as Dave has thoughtfully posted a photo of that already, I won't need to strip the bike down to get the shot.

OK, L.A.B. Now your just plain showing off.

Could be? But it wouldn't be the first time parts have been removed from my Commando to get a photo. :)

That's about as near as I can get to the horn on mine... without 500lbs of MKIII falling overboard on top of me

It sits between the swinging arm and oil pipes/filter on the MKIII. Yes LAB's is less oily than mine!

Sorry I couldn't get closer but between that and Dave's, it should give you some idea.

The horn on my MKIII was playing up, so I bought a secondhand one from a smashed Honda moped and it's a lot louder, lot smaller and a lot lighter - anyone want a pair of dodgy old MKIII horns lust let me know as they are just sat under the bench.
