I want to put turn signals back on my commando, but absolutely hate the big ugly long stemmed cheap lucas signals that came on the bike. Is there a nice looking, lower profile aluminum or stainless body signal that looks decent on a commando. I don't want plastic and I think kellermans would be too small not to mention too modern looking for an old bike, thanks.

I saw those and think they are the same signals that used to come on Hinckley triumphs, not bad, but plastic body and kind of cheap. I have several sets of those in a box somewhere. I saw some real nice ones on a new bonneville at Barber and they were either brushed aluminum or stainless, but I didn't see the owner to ask where he got them.

I am using these ones on different old bikes, including my soon to be redone Commando:

Comes in alloy polishable with amber, smoke or white lens.
Of course... I cannot remember the brand!!! Bought them on Dennis Kirk catalogue .

Philippe those would be nice, but it doesn't look like dennis kirk carries them anymore. I searched through 30 some pages of lighting and found the generic plastic ones, but nothing in aluminum or metal.

I have the same ones on my commando, I found them on e-bay, i'll try to look tomorrow and post a link if I find them.

I think those look great, thanks for the help. Do they stick out far enough in back to clear the tail light?

looking around, I think they are lockhart phillips signals. They have an aluminum series that look like the pictures in the post. What do they look like mounted on the back?

This is the brand!!! Gosh my memory stinks !!!
I have a Lucas (LED ) old style in the back with a " ] " (long U ) behind the registration plate ... I will try to make a picture during the week.

Lockhart Phillips taillights

A t $21 and done, I wish I'd seen these before I replaced my stock signal light and stems, twice. First time was with chrome stems which pitted horribly after a few years. Second time was with stainless steel stems, only to have the chrome peel from the plastic. I eventually went with these. Now I want the Lockhart Phillips ones. Anyone interested in an unused set (4) of the ersatz carbon fiber ones from Old Britts?

Last night I ordered a 2 pair of clear and 2 pair of amber to do both commando's. I think the clear will be less noticeable than the amber, but I am going to try the different types on the two bikes .

Those do look great, and in case you don't know, they have 1156/1157 bulbs these days that look clear when unlit but light up amber - use them with smoked or clear lenses and you avoid that "egg yolk" look. If I were redoing my turn signals, I'd get me a pair of those turn signals with smoked lenses and some of these bulbs.

www.coolbulbs.com has 'em, among others I'm sure.

FWIW.

I saw some round short stem ones on ebay for a honda. Looked like the lucas but shorter and a little smaller

I just saw a Hurricane in one of them pics

Fond memories of my 69 T150. I was a young man, twenty-four, spending a summer in Canada on my brand new Triumph. I had just finished working in Thule, Greenland for a couple of years. I was moneyed up and not a care in the world. Since it's my sixty-sixth birthday today, I'm allowing myself to reminisce. Actually, I reminisce quite frequently these days. I usually don't bore everyone by posting them.

Jim: you should have bought mine: 5 speeds, cam, higher comp pistons etc... went to Ireland and I bought an Interceptor II with the money... not sure if it was an intelligent move!!!

Prmurat,

Are you the guy I bought a 72 Combat from some twelve years ago? It actually belonged to a friend of yours, Steve I think, who was storing it in your garage. You had a Bonneville about 95% completed on the hoist at the time. Also building a Vincent.
