What a great resource this forum is! Thanks to all.

Question: I currently have Dunstall silencers on my bike. They were modified to mount on the original MK3 brackets. Can I install the currently available peashooter silencers or would they need some sort of mod to work?

Each silencer type (peashooter, black cap, cigar, etc.) requires its own particular set of mounting plates, so you need three new pairs of plates for peashooters, as you will have to change all six plates, although it is possible to modify the MkIII silencer mounting plates (the outer plate of the three each side, - part 064150) or the alternative would be to make two new outer plates?

MkIII black cap exhaust assembly: http://www.nortonmotors.de/ANIL/Norton% ... &Plate=026 (disregard items "29" & "30" as they are for the Interpol police model)

Earlier peashooter assembly: http://www.nortonmotors.de/ANIL/Norton% ... &Plate=023

Thanks!!!!!

OK thank you for the info. Will the older (pre MK3) set of mounting plates bolt right onto my bike? If so, that might be the cleanest way to do it.

Yes, as that's what I have on my MkIII which is fitted with peashooters.

The Andover Norton genuine peashooter plates I bought had a rather rough zinc plated finish, which didn't look very good at all, next to chrome and alloy, so I recommend you get a set of stainless steel plates, as I soon replaced the genuine plates I bought with RGM Motors stainless ones, or maybe you could get the new plates chromed if you don't like the zinc finish, I don't know if any of the Norton parts suppliers sell a chromed version of the peashooter plates?

Just to add to what I said.

My MkIII has the standard shape balanced MKIII exhaust pipe system (made by Toga).

But it has been mentioned before on the forum that there can be some variation in the bends of Commando exhaust pipes depending on quality or which manufacturer made them?
So if you experience any difficulty lining things up, it could possibly be the pipes that are at fault?
But at least I didn't have any problems fitting the peashooters/plates with the Toga pipes to my own MkIII.

I switched from the stock "bean-can" mufflers to the peashooters on my Mark 3 last year. I bought the adapter plate set from Old Britts. And yes they have the zinc finish which I thought would not look so great, but after a year of road wear and dirt, everything blends in.

LAB is right. Some header pipes have a round radius in the bend and some are more square. I found some squarish bent ones to follow the contours of the frame better. I got mine from Raber's and the SS pea shooter silencers from Epco.

Seems I need the opposite for my Triumph. I don't like the squarish bent header pipes and need to find more curved ones.

Peashooters on the way

Thanks for the help....my new brackets and silencers are on the way! [/img]

Peashooters on!

Thanks for all the info. I am pleased to report that I now have a great looking exhaust system featuring awesome (made in UK) peashooter silencers! Sounds as good as it looks.

The silencers were purchased from Commandospecialties
The mounting brackest from Old Brits

I highly reccomend both of these companies for speedy and quality service.
