Feeling like relieved fish that jumped out of frying pan, then lands in the fire,

Was feeling pretty smug that couple days ago oil flood out of primary was just one of the front 1' case screws backed out and chewed up. I did have to use RH adjuster to 'force' gear box ~1/4" to get some cold slack in triplex chain, as could not find a socket or end wrench to fit the lower pivot bolt I left it tight. Been through drive traumas engough to know even with the lower pivot bolt nipped up good it will still allow fairly easy pivot of gb shell adjusting, though definitely more resistance than loosened. Got another bolt blue locktited in, topped off fluids and was expecting to hop on yesterday for a one KS to make an appointment 20 m away in time. Why not as Trixie had behaved fine for some months now.

Nope, the KS would not engage enough to kick through compression, just a staccoo sound like drawing a stick across a dull saw blade row of teeth. In past my pawls gave some warning mis engagements then completely free swing mis of engagement. Is it possible I've torqued the AMC shell so much its bound the ratchet somehow? I rapped on bolt ends and shell to try to shock relieve stresses but didn't put that much stress on it by only working adjuster force a couple flats then lever DS box and tug on chain to keep shell from much bind in cradle as chain got to good slack. I rapped on KS shaft end a bit and got engaged for one TDC turn over then only stick over teeth sounds. KS and shifts worked perfect prior and clutch still nice on off no stick normal. Will try to find my special socket that grabs odd ball size or buggered nuts by the flats not the corners to see if just releasing pivot bolt solves it or not. If not ugh, I gave my spare ratchet pawl to Wes last year.
July 4th is nice temp rarity here so may just push start to join the flocks and flocks of blissed out riders.

I feel your pain. If you push start, picture Agostini pushstarting at a Grand Prix. Do it with panache.
I hate to think of the number of hours wrenching divided by the number of hours riding, but the ratio is decreasing over time. I also hate to think about the $/mile ratio. It's all part of the adventure, I suppose.

I would say, no, your gearbox isn't tweaked enough to cause failure to engage. You know what needs doin, rip the covers off, look at the bagged out parts, tap out order for precious metal.

Ugh, best advice to melt my mechanical ego down to my socks again. I am a jinx constantly having stuff go wrong right after shutting off working just fine w/o any abuse. Mower was put up before running out of gas to get stranded in rain till more gas delivered but no go no mo, even going through it for hours like a Norton man can. ugh. 3 days now just sitting and whipped off everything I could reach with rags and floor too, its still leaving photogenic puddles off rear fender end and RH swingarm end and cradle and center stand. I just need a key made to get back on my SV650 recovered from goat butting and 5, 160 size non DOT race only softies to use up, but would have to get back its battery out of Trixie...

Ok up off rocker and face not fixing something for hours again.
