could some one educate me on p11 swing arms; picked up a barn find a while back ; want to restore ; the swing arm on it is about 4 inches longer than my stock p11; they are both high pipe 67s

I seriously doubt swingarms for the '67 P11 came from the factory in more than one length. 4" longer might have been a useful DIY owner modification for a hill climber.

Got a pic of the pile you bought?

Most of the P11 owners that have something to say on the internet are participating on the Facebook Norton P11 group. https://www.facebook.com/groups/65776936412

All P11 swingarms were the same length. The only differences are that P11 has no mounts for a chainguard while P11A and Ranger 750 have a front and rear chainguard mount.

Extending a swinging arm in a responsible way is no small chore. I guess it was cut and an extension welded in? Or is it a complete fabrication? If extended by welding, some of the good properties of R531 are lost. Welding of fatigue-prone components require heat treatment, so it's an elaborate project no matter how you fabricate it.
