G’day fella’s,

Thought you boys down under might like to know: when I collected my bike from the factory last week they had just loaded up 20 bikes into a truck, they were bound for Oz!

Get your cheque books ready guys...!

By the time they hit our waters our Federal GOVT will put their high tax on them then once they go to which ever state the state GOVT will put their tax on them as well as their stamp duty etc and you be looking at each bike getting close to $30k, we have a very high tax on imports but new motor cars, motorcycles and boats get hit the highest.
A few years ago I was looking at buying a new Norton but the price of them were beyond my bank account, I just brought a new 2016 Thruxton 1200S yes its old stock but at about $10k cheaper than a new Norton, this is my second Thruxton in 5 years and they have proven to me to be very reliable, but I still have my old Norton.

Eddie hope your happy with your bike have been following your threads on it. I live in South Australia which is 2000 kilometres from Brisbane where the importer is and they did advise me that they had twenty bikes heading down to Australia. However as Ashman stated the price is going to be very high, the base Sport starts at $30,990 depending what the exchange rate is when they pay for them. The bike that I rode for the day belongs to my friend in Melbourne he is clocking up the miles but now he does have a few small warranty issues but there is no dealer in Melbourne to go too and yes Brisbane is too far to take the bike. So the price of these bikes is one thing the other main problem is having dealers set up to look after them as in Adelaide where I am. Most of us on this forum can fix most problems on the new Norton’s but the majority of the people who buy them can’t, as quite rightly they just want to turn the key and ride them. I looked at a used one with 50 kilometres on the clock at Frasers in Melbourne the guy expected it to be like his Ducati but it wasn’t on his first few ride through busy Melbourne it was idling at very high revs, this and other small issues that we would put up with or fix ourselves using this forum for help but he traded it in after 50 Kilometres on a Ducati.
There is still quite a number of 2015 961 bikes in stock and I got quoted $24,000.00 for one plus on road costs. This is the number that they need to be to sell, so as yet I have not taken the plunge to buy one. Like you Eddie I know I will wake up one morning and just do it all the best with yours

Cam showed those bikes to my wife and me two weeks ago wife of to Aussi in March but agree with the Aussi guys last time i was there could not believe the costs of now cars.

I feel for you Gerard. Like you say, with the assistance of this forum there’s probably very little that a competent and experienced Brit bike owner couldn’t handle.

But, even having said all of that, if I lived so far away from some proper ‘support’ I’m really not sure I’d have done it!

Do most people get there bike when they were told they would get them been told mine will be delayed due to Dream Machine special paint beginning ti think what next

There’s at least 3 of us on here who received our aniversary edition bikes on, or slightly ahead of, estimates given by the factory.

If you communicate with Olivia, she will keep you very informed. No BS.

Cheers Eddie are you intending having your bike serviced at the factory i will be getting all the servicing done at the factory i live about 1 hour away from them, any idea how long the first or any services take assuming it will not take longer than 1 day as will wait for mine to be completed.

Where are you John? I’m in Oxford and yes, I intend to use the factory boys n girls for looking after my bike in general.

Not only do I think they’re the most qualified for the task, I love the idea that in this ‘made in China’ age, we can actually deal directly with a real life Norton factory ... in England ... !

Near Silverstone mate, my thoughts exactly the factory built it the factory can look after it. Spoke to Clive tonight he is collecting his bike tomorrow think he will be posting some interesting posts about his bike.I will be using a van to return my bike for servicing or repairs as this is for me the easiest way.

Well we’re not too far apart, and Ben is only down the road from me. We’ll have to try and organise some Ox & Bucks meet ups!

I'm just South of you guys in High Wycombe. I've not been to Bicester Heritage yet and it sounds quite good and it's quite central to a few people. How about a meet there?

What exactly is Bicester Heritage? I checked out their web site and still don’t know! It seems to just be a big space for various events?

There’s always the H Cafe, next to M&Ps, near Dorechaster. Just google H Cafe and you can see it in google maps.

You can also see it on face ache if you’re a face ache nut. I’m too old for that shite.

It's a restored RAF base with lots of different companies based there that are involved with classic cars and bikes. It's a good enough excuse for me to head out for a nice ride during the week.

I've heard of the caff in D'chester on MCN. That's also a pleasant run out for me.

Hopefully look forward to meeting up with some of you soon.

I'm glad to hear that there are some others out there that are also not obsessed with Effbook, Twatter etc. (Don't start me on UnSocial Media...)

Hi Sorry to crash your party but if you are going to meet to can you make it public as its only 80 miles from me and I wouldn't mind meeting up if I am free

Of course, the more the merrier !

I’ll start a separate and ‘public’ H Cafe meet thread... when spring gets here...
